Yankees Get Flame Throwing Reliever Back From IL

He's back.

On Monday, the New York Yankees activated hard-throwing reliever Jonathan Loaisiga from the 60-day injured list.

Loaisiga was shut down in April due to a bone spur in his elbow, which required surgery.

However, he was able to begin a throwing program in mid-June before heading out on a rehab assignment in late-July.

Loaisiga has been one of the Yankees' main high-leverage relievers when healthy over the past several seasons.

In 3.1 innings this year, Loaisiga posted a 2.70 ERA with a 0.600 WHIP.

Entering play on Monday night, the Yankees' bullpen ranked No. 1 in baseball with a 3.07 ERA as a staff. Loaisiga will likely only help this stat line.

In order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Loaisiga, the Yankees designated right-handed pitcher Deivi Garcia for assignment.
