Yankees Bring up Fresh arm to Boost Tired Bullpen, Option Greg Weissert
USA TODAY Sports

The Yankees have made a roster move.

In order to aid their tired bullpen, the Yankees have called up left-handed pitcher Nick Ramirez and optioned Greg Weissert to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Ramirez signed a minor league deal with the Yankees in the offseason.

Ramirez, 33, took Colten Brewer's spot on the Yankees' 40-man roster. In eight appearances across 10.1 innings for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, Ramirez had allowed just two runs. He had also given up just five hits, walked two and struck out seven batters.

Ramirez has accumulated 110.2 innings in the big-leagues between 2019 and 2021. During this period, he struck out 99 and walked 46 with a 101 ERA+.

As for Weissert, he was called on to serve in mop up duty on Monday night after Jhony Brito's early exit against the Minnesota Twins. Weissert threw 39 pitches in this effort, so it makes sense that he was the odd man out considering the Yankees needed a fresh arm.
