Would Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ever sign with the Yankees?

Toronto Blue Jays' star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is eligible for free agency in 2026. And while it's still unclear if the 23-year-old will head elsewhere three seasons from now, Guerrero has seemingly crossed the New York Yankees off his list of potential destinations.

In an interview with Dominican radio personality El Dotol Nastra, Guerrero killed any buzz about ending up in Yankees' pinstripes once he hits the open market.

"I like to play in New York, I like to kill the Yankees," Guerrero said. "I would never sign with the Yankees, not even dead."

Guerrero has played 65 games against the Yankees, more than any team over his three-year career. In those games, he's fared pretty well, batting .289/.346/.518 with 13 home runs and 41 RBI in 272 plate appearances versus the Bronx Bombers.

Things can change between now and the 2025 offseason, and the Yankees aren't likely to change the way they do business by then, meaning a boatload of money could change Guerrero's mind. But, the conviction in his answer says it's not likely.

Back in September, Guerrero told MLB insider Hector Gomez that he was open to signing a long-term extension with Toronto.

"I feel really happy playing here," Guerrero said. "I hope something can be done about it this offseason."

While unable to duplicate his remarkable 2021 campaign, Guerrero had another All-Star season in 2022. Playing in 160 games for the Blue Jays, Guerrero finished with 32 home runs and 97 RBI, batting .274/.339/.480.

Guerrero struggled in the Blue Jays' postseason loss to the Seattle Mariners in the AL Wildcard round, going 1-for-8 with an RBI in two games.
