Jose Rodriguez's time with the Chicago White Sox organization has come to an end. The White Sox traded the infielder prospect to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for cash considerations.

Rodriguez was a recent roster casualty as the White Sox designated him for assignment to make room for pitcher Mike Clevinger, whose deal became official on Thursday.

The 22-year-old never got much run with the South Siders, as he appeared in just one big-league game last season. Across five seasons in Chicago's farm system, Rodriguez slashed .283/.323/.446 with 57 home runs and 235 RBIs in 1,918 plate appearances.

Rodriguez entered the 2024 season as the White Sox' No. 17 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. However, the White Sox always seemed to prefer Lenyn Sosa when the MLB club required infield depth. Sosa's presence paired with top prospect Colson Montgomery's ascent through the minor-league system led to Rodriguez falling out of favor with the organization.

Now, the Dominican Republic native will get a fresh start with the Phillies organization.
