Watch: Umpire Joe West falls on Rajai Davis in funny scene
Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Not only was Rajai Davis thrown out at home plate on Sunday night, but things got even more unpleasant when umpire Joe West fell on top of him.

Davis pinch ran for Todd Frazier in the top of the eighth inning of his New York Mets’ 5-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. Davis advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a sac bunt, and then tried to score on a fielder’s choice. He was tagged out at home and then got the weight of the world on his back:

That was the ultimate insult-to-injury moment.

If you’re a Mets fan, things unfortunately got worse. Though the team tied the game at two that inning, Jeurys Familia gave up three runs in the bottom half of the inning to surrender the lead and game.

The Phillies are now 1.5 games ahead of the Mets in the NL East, though both teams trail the Braves and Nationals.
