Watch: Triston Casas' first home run ball gets held hostage by fan

A young player's first big-league home run is forever. They may never hit another dinger in MLB again, but that first one can never be taken away.

Well, perhaps it can be taken away... or at the very least held hostage.

That was the situation on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field for Boston Red Sox rookie Triston Casas. Boston's No. 2 overall prospect grabbed hold of one left high and over the plate and he belted it into right field and into the stands for his first big-league home run.

It was a beautiful home run by Casas, but it was made even more memorable by the fan who caught it and decided to haggle with it for all its worth.

The Rays' mascot couldn't get the ball from the fan and apparently team officials from both clubs approached him to find out his asking price as well.

Ultimately, it sounds like the fan did get something out of his holdout to the tune of some signed memorabilia, though how much it will mean to him seems a bit up in the air considering his level of enthusiam. That, and the fact that he was apparently a White Sox fan wearing a Rays jersey, watching a game against the Red Sox.
