Watch: McCormick Gives Astros Lead in First Hit of Season
USA TODAY Sports

Chas McCormick is back! McCormick started in center field on Saturday for the Houston Astros against the Chicago White Sox. In his first appearance this season, he did not disappoint.

With men on first and third, McCormick came to the plate to face White Sox starter Lucas Giolito. It was a tied ballgame and McCormick hit a bloop single to right field that scored Yordan Alvarez making it a 2-1 ballgame.

McCormick was not given the opportunity to start on Opening Day or on Friday. Coming into spring the center field job appeared to be the Pennsylvania native's to lose.

Instead, Jake Meyers was given the start. McCormick is making the most of his opportunity on Saturday as he looks to gain more playing time in the field and in the lineup.
