Veteran 1B Logan Morrison: MLB report on Astros ‘fake news,’ says other teams cheat

Veteran first baseman Logan Morrison is unimpressed with the findings in Major League Baseball’s report that summarized the damning results of an investigation into the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal.

Morrison doesn’t deny that the Astros cheated. Instead, the current Milwaukee Brewers infielder believes the league has not gotten to the bottom of the widespread cheating committed by many other teams.

In a social media dispatch that has since been deleted, Morrison names names, specifically accusing not only the Astros of committing such transgressions, but some other marquee organizations as well.

“I was playing with Seattle in 2014 and every time we went into Houston you would hear this banging,” Morrison wrote in the deleted post, as captured by Brendan Kuty of NJ Advanced Media. “No one put two and two together. Seattle fans may remember we came with in (sic) a game of going to the playoffs. Felix should have won a CY young (sic) that year. But couldn’t get pasted (sic) the 5th in Houston.

“I know from first hand accounts that the Yankees, Dodgers, Astros, and Red Sox all have used film to pick signs. Just want you guys to know the truth. I personally think it’s a tool in a tool belt to pick signs, but if we are going to be punishing people for it. Don’t half ass it.”

In other words, Morrison believes the league has a far more serious, pervasive issue on its hands.

He also ripped MLB commissioner Rob Manfred in his social media diatribe.

“The Manfred report that came out is straight FAKE news,” Morrison added.

The punishment meted out to the Astros organization over employing video and other sophisticated methods to steal signs during the 2017 season and playoffs — as well as the 2018 regular season — are indeed severe.

That said, according to Morrison, the Astros scandal, resolved to some extent with Monday’s bombshell developments, is just the tip of the iceberg.
