The Astros Have A Unique New Celebration In Place
Erik Williams-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Astros had a banner day on Wednesday, hitting three home runs on their way to a 4-2 win in Game 1 of the ALCS over the New York Yankees.

One of those home runs was hit by outfielder Chas McCormick.

McCormick hit one the opposite way in the bottom of the sixth inning that just barely cleared the right field wall.

It was his first career postseason home run, and it extended the Astros’ lead to 3-1.

As he returned to the dugout, McCormick’s teammates were seen doing what is referred to as the “Chas Chomp” as they clapped their hands together in a chomping motion.

Chas Chomp Time

The 27-year-old outfielder had two hits last night as the Astros outlasted the Yankees.

But the “Chas Chomp” seems to be gaining popularity among McCormick’s Astros teammates, as all of them could be seen clapping their hands in a chomping motion together.

It’s always great when a team has something fun and special they can do for one of their teammates after he comes through in the clutch.

Everybody seemed to enjoy doing it as they celebrated his home run, his first in postseason play.

The 27-year-old made his MLB debut back in 2021.

This season, in 359 at-bats, the young outfielder hit .245 with 14 home runs and 44 RBI, further cementing his place in the Astros’ lineup.

In addition to his first career postseason home run, McCormick is hitting .400 this postseason and .303 for his postseason career.

Not only does he have his first postseason home run out of the way, but he’s also got his teammates performing the “Chas Chomp” every time he does something good.

We’ll see if he can stay hot and get some more “Chas Chomps” out of his teammates tonight.
