Rockies C Brian Serven making MLB debut Wednesday vs. Giants

Colorado Rockies catcher Brian Serven will make his MLB debut on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants as the team tries to end an almost year-long losing streak against the NL West rival.

Serven, 27, has spent the last two seasons playing for the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate, the Albuquerque Isotopes. The Palm Desert, Calif., native is slashing .273/.406/.506 so far this season with five home runs, 11 RBI and 18 runs scored on 21 hits.

Colorado could use all the help it can get as it tries to get back into the win column. The Rockies have only won two of their last 10 games, with the last victory being a 10-4 slaughter of the visiting Kansas City Royals last weekend.

Part of the Rockies' recent woes has been their ongoing struggles against the Giants. Colorado has faced San Francisco five times over that 10-game stretch and has dropped every game by large numbers. The Rockies' losing streak against the Giants stretches 12 games dating back to August 2021, which is the Orange and Black's longest winning streak against any team in almost a century.

The Rockies and Giants conclude a three-game series Wednesday at Coors Field.
