The Cleveland Guardians continue to make additions to their organization ahead of this offseason’s winter meetings.

Earlier today, Cleveland announced that it has signed right-handed pitcher Adam Oller to a Minor League contract.

He has also received a non-roster invite to the Guardians’ 2024 spring training.

The 29-year-old made 28 Major League appearances (15 starts) over the last two seasons with the Oakland Athletics.

He went 3-9 with a 7.09 ERA, 51 walks, 59 strikeouts, 1.72 WHIP, and .294 opposing batting average in 94.0 innings pitched.

This season, Oller made nine appearances (one start) for Oakland, going 1-1 with a 10.07 ERA, 12 walks, 13 strikeouts, 2.08 WHIP, and .341 opposing batting average in 19.2 innings pitched.

He was then claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners on July 12th, but only pitched in Triple-A for them in 2023.

Oller elected free agency one week ago before being signed to a Minor League contract by the Guardians.

He was originally a 20th round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of Northwestern State University.

After being signed by Pittsburgh in 2016, Oller reached High-A in the Pirates’ player development system before being released following the 2018 season.

He was then signed to a Minor League contract by the San Francisco Giants in May of the following season, and played in Single-A for the rest of the year.

After that, Oller was claimed off waivers by the New York Mets in the 2019 offseason. He had a breakout season in 2021 across Double-A and Triple-A, for which he was named an Organization All-Star.

Oakland then acquired Oller just before the 2022 season in the Chris Bassitt trade.

Now, the right-hander looks to remain in Cleveland’s organization with a solid performance during the Guardians’ upcoming spring training.
