The Reds tied the Cubs 2-2 on Thursday night.
Hunter Greene kicked the game off for the Reds on the mound as the starting pitcher. He got a quick strikeout but then followed that up by walking Garrett Cooper and giving up a home run to Michael Busch. It wasn’t the prettiest inning for Greene but aside from the two-run shot, he didn’t give up another run.
The Reds hit a home run in the first inning off the bat of Spencer Steer. It was a solo shot that cut the deficit to 2-1.
Greene gave up two hits, two runs, three walks and had five strikeouts in three innings.
After back-to-back walks from Will Benson and Mike Ford, the Reds had two batters on base before Benson moved to third after a flyout from Noelvi Marte. Josh Harrison grounded out to get Benson home and tie the game 2-2.
