It's been less than 48 hours since the Texas Rangers announced the firing of fourth-year manager Chris Woodward. On Wednesday afternoon, longtime Rangers president of baseball operations Jon Daniels was shown the door as well.

Daniels was named Texas' general manager during the 2005 offseason at 28 years old, becoming the youngest GM in MLB history. After hanging around the .500 mark in Daniels' first few seasons at the helm, the Rangers took a massive step forward in 2010 behind AL MVP Josh Hamilton to capture their first division crown in 11 years and advance to their first World Series in franchise history.
The team fell to the San Francisco Giants in five games during the 2010 Fall Classic but was back on the championship stage in 2011, where the Rangers faced the St. Louis Cardinals. Texas infamously came one strike away from the title twice in Game 6, only to end up being defeated in seven games.
The Rangers were back in the playoffs in 2012, 2015 and 2016 but didn't make it past the divisional series. They haven't been to the postseason since. They enter Wednesday with a 52-64 record and are 9.5 games out of the playoff picture.
Chris Young has been elevated to the president of baseball operations post. The former Texas starting pitcher and one-time All-Star was hired as the team's GM and executive VP in December 2020.
