Rangers' All-Star SS Corey Seager 'day-to-day' with leg contusion

Texas Rangers' All-Star shortstop Corey Seager could be headed to the injured list.

Seager has missed the Rangers' last two games with a leg contusion after fouling a ball off his right leg Thursday against the Los Angeles Angels.

On Saturday, manager Chris Woodward said that while Seager's condition hadn't worsened, a stint on the IL was possible.

In his first season with the Rangers, Seager earned his third-career All-Star nod and currently leads all shortstops with 23 home runs. He's slashing .249/.325/.474 with 54 RBI in 95 games.

The 28-year-old left the Los Angeles Dodgers after seven years, signing a massive 10-year, $325M free agent deal with the Rangers last offseason.

Even though the Rangers trail the first-place Houston Astros by 20 games in the AL West, Seager's presence in the Rangers' lineup has impacted the team in the win/loss column.

After finishing 2021 at 60-102, the Rangers are just 15 wins shy of equaling last year's win total, sitting at 45-54.
