The Chicago Cubs continued making roster moves on Wednesday. With knowledge that Adbert Alzolay is on his way back to the team, the Cubs placed OF Rafael Ortega on the 60-day IL, ending his season. However, we assumed at On Tap Sports Net that he would be the roster move for Alzolay. Instead, Jared Young has taken Ortega's place on the roster.

Young is listed as an outfielder, but plays a number of positions. He's played third base, first base, and outfield. That versatility is likely one reason he is getting a look at the big league level. In 108 games at Triple-A Iowa, Young slashed .228/.310/.413 with 16 home runs and 57 RBI. In addition, he has scored 60 runs and clubbed 21 doubles. Once a 15th round pick by the Cubs in 2017, Young is finally getting his chance.

Now that Ortega is on the 60-day IL, the Cubs will have to make another roster move on Friday when they activate Adbert Alzolay. There is always the chance they send Young down, but that's doubtful. Someone will surely be designated for assignment so the Cubs can activate the 27-year-old right-handed hurler.
