Possum wreaking havoc in visiting broadcast booth at A's stadium

It is widely believed that the Oakland A's have one of the worst stadium situations in all of professional sports, and they seem to have a problem with an unwanted tenant.

Specifically, a possum that has taken up residence in the visiting TV booth.

It is believed to be living in the wall of the booth, and on Friday the Mets broadcasters told an amazing story about how they not only had to be relocated to a different booth because of the possum, but how it made an appearance during the game in the season-opening series against the Los Angeles Angels

There are a couple of things to address here.

The first is that is an amazing job by the Mets broadcast team to combine the story with the play-by-play. That is what you want in a broadcast team for a baseball game: the ability to weave in a story while also not missing any of the action or losing anything from it. The story does not overshadow the game completely, and you still get something entertaining. That is simply A-plus work.

The second is that possum is not going to go away without a fight, and it just adds to the infamous lore of the stadium situation in Oakland. It is falling apart, sewage has backed up into the dugouts and now the A's have a possum causing havoc with visiting broadcast teams.

The third is if they need a name for the possum they could always call it "Bitey."

The A's have been unable to secure a new stadium deal, and Las Vegas has its eyes on the team for possible relocation. Oakland already lost the NFL's Raiders to Las Vegas over the stadium situation. Now it might be losing its baseball team as well.
