Oakland's Frankie Montas leaves start against Mariners with shoulder tightness

Oakland A's starting pitcher Frankie Montas left his start on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners after just one inning of work.

After the game, A's manager Mark Kotsay told reporters that Montas was feeling tightness in the back of his shoulder and had trouble getting extended.

Montas is considered day-to-day.

The 29-year-old has a 3-9 record with a 3.26 ERA in 17 starts for the A's this season. He's allowed 35 earned runs and posted 100 strikeouts in 96.2 innings.

Montas has been the topic of trade rumors since the start of the season. With the Aug. 2 trade deadline right around the corner, talks surrounding Montas will likely heat up.

While there's likely to be a large market for Montas, the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees are reportedly interested in acquiring the right-hander.
