Oakland Athletics' Jordan Diaz Joins Exclusive Club in Team History vs. New York Yankees

On Tuesday night in the Bronx, Jordan Diaz became the third member in Oakland A's franchise history to hit three home runs against the New York Yankees.

Diaz joins a club that includes Hall of Famer Jimme Foxx, who did it back in 1933 as a member of the Philadelphia A's, and Geronimo Berroa, who did it in 1996.

Diaz homered in the top of the fourth inning off of Clark Schmidt, in the seventh inning off of Albert Abreu and in the eighth off of Greg Weissert.

That's a pretty impressive night considering Diaz was hitting in the seven spot in the order. For the season, Diaz is hitting .286 with four home runs and eight RBI. He's had 42 at-bats this year and maybe this performance will earn him some more.

Diaz has just 91 career at-bats to his name. He debuted with Oakland in 2022 and hit .265.

At the time of this posting, the Yankees lead the A's, 10-5, in the top of the ninth inning. Assuming the Yankees hold on, they'll move to 20-17 and the A's would fall to 8-29.

The Yankees scored five runs in the third inning on singles by Anthony Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, and Harrison Bader. They also got a sac fly from Jake Bauers.

In his return from the injured list, Aaron Judge is 0-3 but he does have two RBI and a walk.

The two teams will finish up the series on Wednesday afternoon at 12:35 p.m. ET. Kyle Muller will start for Oakland while Jhony Brito goes for New York.
