New York Mets Injury Update: David Peterson
USA TODAY Sports

The Mets' pitching staff took some hits over the weekend.

On Saturday, left-hander David Peterson was struck on the foot by a come backer before exiting the Mets' Grapefruit League game against the Miami Marlins.

Peterson went for X-Rays and received a CT scan and was ultimately diagnosed with a left foot contusion. The 27-year-old is considered day-to-day.

Exhale.

This is good news for the Mets' pitching depth, as Peterson is currently slated as the No. 6 starter.

Last season, Peterson made 19 starts, going 7-5 with a 3.83 ERA and 126 strikeouts.

In addition to Peterson, Jose Quintana left Sunday's game with left side tightness and will go for testing on Monday. Quintana's participation in the World Baseball Classic is now up in the air.

The Mets seemingly dodged a bullet with Peterson and they will now be hoping for the same with Quintana.
