MLB best bets: Wiesguy's 2 Picks and a Prop for 6/27

Well, that settles it, from now I am only backing the Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Rays for the rest of the season. Ugh, I hate when a week starts off poorly (understatement).

Nothing came through yesterday. The Texas Rangers could not even beat the Tigers, let alone do so with margin, and I can "handle" the Reds losing in Baltimore, but even the Mets don't know what is up with their pitchers so how can we.

Enough complaining. We have a full slate of 15 games tonight. Hopefully, the weather cooperates.

Winning Days: 15 of 35

In review: Monday, June 26

Texas Rangers -1.5 (-105) (loss)
Just when I was starting to believe. I still think there is a better than non-zero chance they finish fourth in the AL West.

Cincinnati Reds +110 (loss)
Did I miss the excitement? Cincinnati is such a fun team to back too.

Justin Verlander Over 6.5 Strikeouts +100 (loss)
He did not give up any runs last night (over 5 innings) but that was not JV we know and love.

MLB Picks for Tuesday, June 27

Favorite
Atlanta Braves -155 (vs. Minnesota Twins)

We have lost a little value from the opening number throughout the day, but I am going to follow my own advice and back the hottest team in the majors this month — Atlanta has only lost four times in June. They are also one of the best home run-hitting teams in the league so if Bryce Elder struggles, they can slug their way to a win at home against listless Minnesota.

Underdog
Milwaukee Brewers +120 (at New York Mets)

There is competition for the most disappointing team in the majors, but the Mets keep stating their case. There is no way they should be favored against the NL Central-leading Brewers tonight. Lefty David Peterson has been bad this season, 1-6 record, and an ERA of 8.08. I do expect regression from Milwaukee starter Julio Teheran at some point but there is no value in paying the premium with New York tonight.

Prop
Austin Riley Over 0.5 Runs (+100)

I suppose I am double dipping here with the Braves but this one could easily cash whether the Braves win or not. Riley has scored in six straight games and eight of his last nine. This team is red hot and he is right in the middle of that lineup. He already has 20 runs this month, easily besting his season-high 17 runs scored (in more games) in April.
