MLB best bets: Wiesguy's 2 Picks and a Prop for 6/2

We had a winning day on Tuesday, only Zach Greinke turning back the clock stopped us from a 3-0 day.

I know that feels like a long time ago, back when it looked like the Heat might actually have a chance in the NBA Finals. Time flies.

There have been so many days with lots of day games of late, which is why this column is all over the map of late. Tonight we have a complete slate though so let's add another winning day. I wonder if shorter games might mean fewer midweek day games in the future.

We will see ... but anyways ... onto the winning.

MLB Picks for Friday, June 2

Favorite

Minnesota Twins -135 (vs. Cleveland Guardians)
The Twins are in first place in the AL Central. Cleveland was supposed to challenge this season but so far we have not seen it. I am fading the Guardians in this spot with starter Aaron Civale coming off the injured list. Big man Bailey Ober is not dominant normally but his best outing of the season was in a 2-0 win over Cleveland. The premium is not too great at Target Field tonight.

Underdog

Colorado Rockies +105 (at Kansas City Royals)
Normally there are only one or two games I really like for underdogs but there was a lot to choose from tonight — including Shohei Ohtani at the Astros. In the end, I settled for a fade of the Royals. Starter Jordan Lyles is a disaster and Kansas City is just 2-7 when favored this season. The Rox are not a powerhouse but their pitching improved outside of Coors Field and they should enjoy Lyles' hospitality.

Prop

Jon Berti Over 0.5 Stolen Bases +225
Berti led the majors in steals last season but has not been running like crazy this year. Playing Oakland is definitely a spot where he can take some chances and he is hitting .272 and taking some walks so the opportunities should be there. I am surprised the payoff is this great but he has just seven thefts on the season and none since the middle of May. It is worth the risk.
