MLB best bets: Strikeout props for Tuesday 7/18

The 2023 MLB season rolls on Tuesday with a full slate of 15 games on the schedule, and we've got you covered with our three favorite strikeout prop bets for the day. Let's get to it.

Jordan Montgomery under 4.5 Ks (-110 DraftKings)

The Miami Marlins have crushed left-handed pitching all season. Miami ranks No. 1 in MLB in batting average against lefties (.313), and the team has recorded the second-fewest number of strikeouts against southpaws (145). The Marlins also have the third-fewest strikeouts per game (6.5) since the All-Star break. This is a tough matchup for Jordan Montgomery, so let's take the under 4.5 Ks.

Joe Musgrove under 5.5 Ks (-130 DK)

Joe Musgrove has been on fire lately with 31 strikeouts over his last four starts, but I think that hot streak comes to an end Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Since the All-Star break, the Blue Jays are hitting .364 as a team, and they've recorded the fewest strikeouts per game (6.0) in MLB. Musgrove hasn't fanned more than six batters in any of his road starts this season, and this will be his toughest matchup yet.

Bryan Woo over 6.5 Ks (-130 FanDuel)

Bryan Woo has become a regular in this column, and it's easy to see why. The Seattle Mariners rookie is averaging 11.2 strikeouts per nine innings this season. He's gone over 6.5 Ks four times in seven starts, and now he gets to face a Minnesota Twins lineup that's recorded the second-highest strikeout total since the All-Star break. The Twins lead the league this year in strikeouts and strikeouts against right-handed pitching, so this is an easy over bet to make.
