LA Changes Up Bullpen Ahead of Wednesday’s Game vs Pirates
USA TODAY Sports

The Dodgers homestand continues in early July, but not for Gavin Stone as he was optioned back to Triple-A ahead of Wednesday's games against the Pirates.

The Dodgers decided to recall LHP Bryan Hudson to support Bobby Miller in the bullpen for Wednesday night's matchup vs the Pirates at Dodger Stadium.

Hudson has only seen the mound for the Dodgers one time, where he pitched two innings and allowed 3 runs, 4 hits and 2 strikeouts against the Giants in June, but his one appearance doesn't speak for his overall performance this year.

For the Dodgers Triple-A Affiliate, the Oklahoma City Dodgers, Hudson is 4-0 in 34.1 innings pitched, throwing a 1.83 ERA with 57 total strikeouts.

As for Gavin Stone, he's been optioned back to OKC, despite putting up eight strikeouts in 12 innings pitched for the Dodgers. He's also allowed a hefty amount of runs (17) in his previous seven appearances for Los Angeles.

This transaction shows that the Dodgers are in dire need of some support in the bullpen, especially after they were tasked with 5.1 innings of work on Tuesday.

Bobby Miller is set to get the start in Wednesday night's match-up against the Pirates, and if he's unable to go deep in the game, we could see Hudson at some point.
