Kids Go Viral For Fighting During Mets-Astros Spring Training Game

The New York Mets' game against the Houston Astros on Sunday featured some decent action on the diamond, but the moment that caught most people's eye came in the stands.

In the top of the fifth inning, with the Mets trailing 5-0, the SportsNet New York broadcast cut to live footage of two young boys roughhousing in the outfield. Instead of focusing on Astros first baseman Jon Singleton's at-bat against Mets righty Cole Sulser, Keith Hernandez, Ron Darling and Steve Gelbs decided to give a play-by-play breakdown of the brothers' brawl instead.

"This is perfect weather if you're a kid – it's hot, it's raining, it's gonna get muddy at some point," Darling said. "Little brother is giving the big brother all he can handle."

Darling may have jinxed the younger brother, though, as the next time the broadcast cut back to the fight, the older brother caught him off guard and shoved him to the ground.

The little brother tried to get even with a high kick, but the big brother caught his leg and threw him down again.

The three-man crew reacted to the move in awe, laughing and advising the younger brother to surrender.

Linzy Singleton, whose husband was up at bat during the brawl, didn't mind that the kids distracted from the game itself, she admitted on social media afterwards.

According to Awful Announcing, the broadcast showed the conclusion of the brothers' fight a few minutes later. Their mother came in to break it up, all while the two boys were laughing and trying to keep the scuffle going.

The game between the Mets and Astros was canceled due to rain in the bottom of the fifth inning. Houston was awarded the 5-2 victory, moving them to 6-4 in Grapefruit League play.
