It's Opening Day, and Patrick Corbin is undefeated ... but not for long

It's MLB Opening Day! All 30 teams hit the diamond throughout the day and it's best we jump right in because our first look gets going very soon.

Celebrate Opening Day with a pair of MLB bets

The Atlanta Braves take on Patrick Corbin and the Washington Nationals, and since we saw that Corbin was on the bump, we knew this was a game we'd need some action on. The Braves have the second-best World Series odds behind the Astros, while the Nationals, well ... they do not. You're going to be hard-pressed to find two teams on as different ends of the spectrum as these two from the NL East.

Max Fried will get the start for Atlanta. Fried finished 2022 with a 15-9 record, 2.48 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and averaging 8.3 Ks/9. In short, he's one of the league's top arms, and he's strung together some nice outings against the Nats in recent years. He's 4-1 in his past six starts against Washington, allowing 12 runs across 36 innings.

The same cannot be said for Patrick Corbin. Corbin was atrocious last season, finishing the year 6-19 with a 6.31 ERA. In his last start against Atlanta, Corbin got hurt in the first inning. Ignoring that game, Corbin has lost nine straight starts against the Braves. The Braves have not been shy about getting their bats going when Corbin is opposite them, and we expect a similar result today.

Betting: Atlanta Braves -1.5 (-145 DK)

Later this evening we're treated to an elite pitcher duel between Zac Gallen of Arizona and Julio Urias from the Dodgers. Both Gallen and Urias finished the 2022 season among the top 10 in lowest ERAs and each ranked among the sixth-lowest WHIPs in the entire league.

With two strong arms on the mound, we're liking this one to be relatively low-scoring. Eight of the last 10 meetings between these two teams have gone under tonight's total, and it's here we look to wrap up Opening Day.

Betting: Under 7.5 runs in ARI-LAD (-122 FD)

Outlier Trend of the Day

Brandon Ingram has failed to exceed 26.5 points in 13 of his last 14 games against opponents with a winning record (19.9 points/game average).

Brandon Ingram under 26.5 points (-120 DK)

In the news ...

MLB, MLBPA reach tentative agreement on historic CBA for minor leaguers — For the first time in history, minor league baseball players are set to agree to a collective bargaining agreement with the MLB. The deal, five years in length, will offer better benefits and security for baseball's prospects, including more than doubling of pay at all levels.

Valero Texas Open tees off today — We're just one week away from The Masters, but in the meantime, TPC San Antonio will play host to the Valero Texas Open, starting today. Tyrrell Hatton (+1300) and Rickie Fowler (+2000) are the two favorites, but we're intrigued by Brendon Todd at +4000. Todd has three top-10 finishes under his belt this season, and the last time he played on this course he finished the weekend in eighth. At the very least, his odds at +400 to finish in the top 10 are worth a flyer.

Kings clinch playoff berth for first time in 16 seasons — 16 seasons! The long drought for the Sacramento Kings is over with their Wednesday night win over the Trail Blazers. The Kings are currently 46-30 and in third place in the Western Conference. De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis combine to form a strong 1-2 punch, and it's nice to see some fresh faces in the NBA playoff picture. The Kings are +2000 to advance through the West and make the Finals, and +6000 to win it all.
