"He's Really Something:" Terry Francona Amazed With Andres Gimenez's Game-Winning Plays For Guardians

Home runs are cool and pitchers finessing hitters are both fun to see. However, sometimes there's nothing better than watching a position player make a number of diving stops.

That's the show Cleveland Guardians fans were treated to on Friday night as Andres Gimenez showed why he's a Gold Glove winner. He made two game-winning plays that left his manager amazed after the game.

Tito struggled to find the words when trying to describe how incredible Gimenez was but did have this to say: "I'm telling you man that's as good as it gets. That double play and then that ball - that's a hit. He's really something."

The first spectacular play Gimenez made came in the top of the eighth with a runner on first. The second baseman was shading a little more left than he usually does so he had to quickly react when Ramon Urias hit a ball in the direction of his normal spot.

Gimenez shifted over, slid, and threw the ball to Gabriel Arias at second who then rifled it over to Josh Naylor at first base to complete the double play and get out of the inning.

Pure poetry.

The second breathtaking play that Gimenez made came in the top of the ninth as the Guardians looked to slam the door on the Orioles. Baltimore's Adley Rutschman was at the plate looking to start a rally for his team.

He hit a ball with an exit velocity of and an xBA of .540 that almost got in the hole. However, Gimenez dived, scooped it up, threw the ball to first, and got the runner out.

This is just a beautiful baseball play all around but also was a huge moment for the Guardians.

Sure, the offense has been tough for Gimenez for the majority of the season. But plays such as these show why he's such an exciting and dynamic player fans will get to watch for years to come.
