Hendriks family to collaborate with DJ Pauly D for tailgate fundraiser
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

For the first time in a while, the White Sox had some fun news to share this morning!

The club announced that Liam and Kristi Hendriks are going to collaborate with DJ Pauly D on a tailgate fundraiser on September 15 before the team’s game that evening. The event is in support of Be the Match, a community comprising donors, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and researchers who work together to provide life-saving marrow transplants to patients in need.

Here is more from the team’s press release on the event:

In December 2022, Liam Hendriks received a Stage 4 diagnosis of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The news of ‘cancer’ was as shocking to him as it is to millions of families each year. In the days following the diagnosis, Liam and his wife decided to channel their efforts into supporting others affected by this disease. This determination led them to collaborate with DJ Pauly D for a fundraising tailgate event aimed at generating funds for Be the Match. Be the Match is a community comprising donors, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and researchers who work together to provide life-saving marrow transplants to patients in need. The tailgate event is scheduled to take place at Guaranteed Rate Field on September 15 at 4 p.m. CT. Admission into the event requires a $20 entry fee, which includes two drink vouchers upon entry. All proceeds from the event will go towards benefiting Be the Match. Yeahhhh Southside! Let’s save lives!

As mentioned in the press release, the event will be taking over Lot B but entry requires a ticket. The tailgate will take place from 4 – 6:15 pm CT, plenty of time before the team’s game that evening against the Minnesota Twins.

DJ Pauly D, for those who are unfamiliar, is best known for being a cast member on MTV’s Jersey Shore. He has won two Teen Choice Awards (2011-2012) for “Male Reality Star” and has had a music and disc jockey career since 2010 and was nominated for the “America’s Best DJ” competition in 2010 and 2011.

This year has been a rollercoaster ride for Hendriks, who began the season on the injured list to continue his treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He publicly revealed his shocking cancer diagnosis on January 8, later completed treatment on April 3, and announced he was cancer free on April 20. Hendriks eventually made a remarkable homecoming on May 29th in front of the home crowd, instantly making it the highlight of a White Sox season many would soon like to forget. Most recently, the White Sox revealed that Hendriks underwent successful Tommy John Surgery.

Make sure to get out and support a great cause!
