Former Padres Outfielder Inks Major League Deal with LA Dodgers

One time Padre outfielder Jake Marisnick has signed a deal with the rival Dodgers, according to reports. Marisnick came to the Friars in a deadline trade with the Cubs in 2021 to add some depth to the outfield. The club sent RHP Anderson Espinoza to Chicago to complete the trade. Certainly, Marisnick's time in San Diego wasn't much to write home about.

In 34 games, he hit just .188 with zero home runs and 2 runs batted in. The boost AJ Preller was hoping for wasn't there and the Padres finished 79-83 that season, missing the playoffs after making it to the division series against LA one season prior.

Speaking of LA, now the Dodgers pick up the 32-year-old journeyman who's in the midst of another less than great season where he's expected to be added to their active roster today. Marisnick spent the first few months of the season with the Detroit Tigers hitting .232 before being released last week.

As for the guy the Padres traded to pick up Marisnick back in 2021, Espinoza is back in the San Diego organization after signing a minor league deal this past December. He has a 6.30 ERA in 15 starts at Triple-A El Paso.
