Fans relieved to see Zach Davies out of the Diamondbacks starting rotation
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

It is not often you see a team release a starting pitcher with just five games left in the season, but when the stakes are as high as they are for the Diamondbacks right now, the decision had to be made to DFA Zach Davies.

While Arizona’s offense did storm back to defeat the White Sox last night, the first couple of innings perfectly illustrated why they cannot afford to have Davies in their starting rotation.

Davies allowed four earned runs on eight hits against a White Sox offense that has scored the third fewest runs in the MLB this season. This start raised Zach’s ERA to a horrendous 7.00.

And it ultimately forced the Diamondbacks to finally make the decision to take him out of the rotation.

Which, not surprising, led to a sigh of relief from the Diamondbacks’ fanbase.

The Diamondbacks will continue their series against the White Sox this morning at 11:10 AM.
