Dodgers Injured Reliever Believes He Can Help the Team Win a World Series This Season
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Expectations around Los Angeles are understandably high heading into this season for the Dodgers.

From the projected lineup to the assortment of pitchers, this team is loaded from top to bottom. While most spots on the roster are essentially etched at this point, there are a few still up for grabs -- particularly in the bullpen.

One of those guys fighting for a spot is veteran right-hander Daniel Hudson

The 36-year-old has enjoyed varying success at the Major League level. He helped the Nationals win a World Series back in 2019. Most recently, he's been a key cog in the Dodgers' bullpen.

There should be an asterisk* next to that statement due to the fact Hudson has dealt with a plethora of injuries.

When healthy, he's nearly unhittable. He pairs an upper-90s fastball with a wipeout slider. With that said Hudson has been sidelined with injuries to both knees.

Now fully healthy, Hudson is vying for a spot on the roster among a host of other arms. In an article penned by Cary Osborne, Hudson spoke about his time with the Dodgers:

"I felt like this organization has really taken good care of me and my family the last couple of years and they didn’t have to. I feel like I kind of owe it to them to try to hold my side of the bargain because I feel like I kind of let some people down here in the last couple years, even though it obviously hasn’t been my fault. (Now), I’m just trying to help us win a World Series."

Hudson feels as if he's still good enough to be a member of a loaded bullpen that features Evan Phillips, Brusdar Graterol, Joe Kelly, Ryan Brasier, and Blake Treinen (among others).
