Diamondbacks witness large uptick in attendance over past month

Whether attributed to the implementation of the pitch clock or the emergence of a new generation of captivating stars, Major League Baseball has experienced a noteworthy 9% surge in attendance this year.

Moreover, this trend is poised to accelerate exponentially as the season progresses.

In a graphic posted by the MLB Communications page on Monday, “MLB has now had nine weekends of more than 1.5 million fans attending on weekends in the 2023 season.  The previous four full seasons (2018-19 and 2021-22) combined for a total of five such weekends.”

Teams such as the Rangers, Rays, Reds, Orioles, and the Pirates have witnessed the most significant surges thus far.

As for the Diamondbacks, almost in inverse of their performance on the diamond, Chase Field is seeing a much larger influx of fans during the second half of this season.

Having increased by nearly 20% in comparison to 2022, the Diamondbacks are now maintaining an impressive average of over 30 thousand fans per game since the midway mark. This stands in stark contrast to their earlier season average of 22.5k fans per game.

To provide context, it’s worth noting that the Diamondbacks last achieved an average attendance of 30k back in 2008.
