Highlights from the hill

Arizona threw four other pitchers in tonights game, Kyle Nelson lasting the longest, going two complete innings. Kevin Ginkel got the win tonight from the mound, his ninth on the year (9-0). Paul Sewald collected his 33rd save on the season in nail biting fashion as well.

Quintana allowed two earned runs on five hits, two walks and punching out four in the process. The Mets moved to 65-78 on the year, Drew Smith receiving the loss tonight (4-6).

Performances from the plate

Arizona had some familiar faces grabbing multiple hits in tonights game. Tommy Pham went 3-5 with a homer a double and a single in a familiar ball park. Seby Zavala also continues his hitting streak with the Diamondbacks, he singled twice and struck out once. Corbin Carroll had more of a quiet night tonight, going 0-5 from the plate. Ketel Marte also got in on the fun, grabbing two base hits himself. Marte also had the eventual game winning base hit in the top of the ninth, a double that scored Alek Thomas.

The Diamondbacks will remain in New York as game two is set for a 4:10 first pitch PST tomorrow evening. Arizona will start Ryne Nelson who has a 7-7 record on the year, with a 5.30 ERA in 130.2 innings pitched. New York will be going with the right hander Jose Butto to throw tomorrow.
