The injury bug has hit the Cleveland Guardians hard in 2023. The starting rotation has dealt with injuries before the season even started and now the season heads into its final stages with position players dropping.

Josh Naylor and Tyler Freeman were placed on the injured list late last week and now David Fry is the latest player to make a trip to the IL.

Cleveland was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring. Manager Terry Francona said this injury is something that's bothered him for the last couple of days and he actually aggravated it when he did the splits at first base when he and Andres Gimenez turned a tremendous double play.

This explains why Fry didn't replace Kole Calhoun at first base in the ninth inning of Cleveland's series finale against the White Sox. A lot of fans were wondering why this move wasn't made.

Fry missing time with an injury is a disappointing loss for Cleveland. He carved out a nice niche on the team as a utility man with a solid bat. Fry has hit .250 with. a.737 OPS over his 84 at-bats this season.

Fry's trip to the IL opens up a roster spot that will be filled by Ramon Laureano . The Guardians claimed the veteran outfielder off waivers from the Oakland Athletics on Monday.

Laureano will make his Guardians debut on Tuesday in right field and will hit fifth in the lineup.
