Bryce Harper supports Blake Snell after Rays star's controversial comments

Regardless of whether the 2020 MLB season is played and how player salaries are going to look, Philadelphia Phillies star outfielder Bryce Harper is set financially.

In no way does this mean Harper is willing to risk his health amid the COVID-19 pandemic for pennies on the dollar.

The former NL MVP opened up Thursday evening about comments made by Tampa Bay Rays star Blake Snell regarding taking a further reduction in salary to play this season.

“Somebody’s gotta say it. At least he manned up and said it. He ain’t lying, he’s speaking the truth, bro. I ain’t mad at him,” Harper said, via NBC Philadelphia.

Snell’s comments on Twitch earlier in the week drew support from some and the ire of others.

Snell basically concluded that he’s not willing to put his life on the line should owners continue to push for a revenue share plan. It’s a take that other players around the baseball world seemingly support.

Despite these financial hurdles, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred noted Thursday evening on CNN that he’s confident the two sides can come to terms on an agreement and start a truncated season in July.

As for Harper, he’s in the midst of a 13-year, $330 million contract. He’ll be just fine regardless of how this plays out.
