Astros utilityman Aledmys Diaz out six to eight weeks with broken hand

Houston Astros utilityman Aledmys Diaz will be out six to eight weeks with a broken left hand, the team announced Sunday, according to Astros reporter Julia Morales.

Diaz left Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays after being hit on the back of his hand on a 92-mph pitch thrown by Ross Stripling.

The 30-year-old has played every position for the Astros this season except catcher, pitcher and center field. He is hitting .278 with three home runs and 18 RBI in 34 games.

Houston is second in the AL West with a 33-26 record. The Oakland Athletics currently lead the division.
