The season started well enough for Pressly, as he looked strong in his first three appearances. Pressly earned saves against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (twice) and Arizona Diamondbacks, allowing two of 10 batters faced to reach base.
Pressly blew a save against the Diamondbacks in his most recent outing on April 13. Pressly entered the game in the 10th inning with a 2-1 lead but promptly gave up a game-tying RBI single to Arizona's Seth Beer. Pressly walked the next three batters to load the bases before Ketel Marte completed the walk-off victory for the Diamondbacks.
Before heading to the injured list, there were concerns about Pressly's velocity going back to spring training.
"Relievers run off adrenaline and there's no adrenaline here," Pressly said after his first spring training appearance, per MLB.com's Brian McTaggart. "I'm not really worried about velocity. I'd rather be 92, 94 than 97, 98 all over the place."
Pressly was an All-Star in 2021, going 5-3 with a 2.25 ERA and 26 saves.
This season, Pressly is 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA.
