Astros Legend Bringing His Whiskey to Town
Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

There is plenty to be excited about for Houston Astros fans heading into the upcoming season.

Despite the one negative surrounding Justin Verlander not being available for Opening Day, he's still progressing well in his recovery and doesn't expect to be out long.

Manager Joe Espada will add some minor tweaks to this team as well, and they unveiled how things might potentially look when they face the New York Yankees in their opener on March 28.

Away from things on the field, a former Astros legend has also given fans another reason to be excited.

Roy Oswalt is bringing his brand of whiskey to Houston and is doing bottle signings on March 9 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. central time at Spec's Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods.

Houston drafted Oswalt in the 23rd round of the 1996 MLB Draft.

He spent a decade with the franchise, earning three All-Star Game selections, won the most games in a season, won an ERA title, and had five top-five Cy Young voting finishes during his tenure.

Over 303 appearances and 291 starts, he recorded 143 wins and posted an ERA of 3.24.

This earned Oswalt an induction into the Astros' Hall of Fame.

The legendary pitcher decided to get into the food and beverage business after his playing career was over, launching a restaurant located in Starkville, Mississippi called "44 Prime" in 2021.

He launched his whiskey line "Houston 44 Bourbon" in January 2023 and is now bringing it to Houston.

There are many homages made to the franchise he spent a decade with on the bottle, including his No. 44 jersey number and a picture of the city's skyline with Minute Maid Park included in the artwork.

Oswalt is excited to celebrate this new venture with Astros fans everywhere.
