Arizona Diamondbacks sign outfielder Randal Grichuk to 1-year deal
Kiyoshi Mio-USA TODAY Sports

Less than 24 hours after Mike Hazen declared that he was not finished making moves, the Arizona Diamondbacks swiftly signed Randal Grichuk to a one-year, $2 million deal.

The ten-year veteran has played for four different teams since being drafted in the first round of the 2009 draft by the Los Angeles Angels.

Last season, split between his time with the Rockies and Angels, Grichuk posted a .267 batting average, hitting 16 home runs and 31 doubles in 118 games. During the first half of the 2023 season with the Colorado Rockies, he maintained a .308 batting average through 64 games.

While primarily stationed in left field, Grichuk showcased versatility by playing in every outfield position during the 2023 season.

Grichuk’s value extends to his postseason experience, having participated in three postseason runs.

To accommodate Grichuk on their roster, the Diamondbacks pled RHP Drey Jameson on the 60-day injured list.
