Wyndham Clark takes SWIPE at LIV Golf and Bryson DeChambeau following first round of Masters
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

In his first appearance at the Augusta National for the Masters tournament, reigning US Open Champion Wyndham Clark shoot a score of 1-over 73. After this poor start, he would take a swipe at LIV Golf and their star Bryson DeChambeau.

Wyndham Clark, the World No.4, finished the first round trailing Bryson DeChambeau by eight strokes after the Crushers GC captain fired an impressive 7-under 65 to start the event. When asked if he could still make a comeback and chase down DeChambeau, Clark decided to have a go at his league.

Speaking about this in the post-round conference, the 30-year-old golfer claimed he still has 54 holes left to play, the same amount LIV Golf plays.

Yeah, we've got 54 holes. In LIV Golf they only play 54, so I like my chances. We’ve got a lot of golf left... someone shot 7 under… I could do that tomorrow Wyndham Clark said

LIV Golf’s 54-hole format is something that has been criticized on several occasions. Recently, their new marquee signing Jon Rahm himself claimed that he would like to see the breakaway tour play full 72 holes as he believed this could help his tour.

Wyndham Clark gets blown away by strong winds at first roud

The Opening Masters round at the Augusta National on Thursday was not an easy one. The strong gusts of winds made it a tough day at the course for many golfers including Wyndham Clark who seems to have been blown away by the weather conditions.

While he started the front nine by shooting a score of 33, his performance on the back nine derailed him on the first round. His double bogey at the par-5 15th hole saw him finish the last nine holes with a score of 40, thus firing 73 in his debut at this iconic course.

In the post-round conference, the 30-year-old would claim it was a “hard day” of golf after acknowledging some of his missed putts.

If I played the par-5s a little better, and maybe make one or two putts, we'd be having a different interview right now. I felt like I played great. My game feels good... It's really hard to make putts when it's blowing 20 and gusting...It's just a hard day. Wyndham Clark said.

The winds at the Augusta National grew stronger towards the end of the day which saw the first round being postponed. Several golfers including Tiger Woods are yet to finish the first round as a result of this. The weather forecast has claimed winds will pick up pace again on Friday which could make matters more difficult for the players at the range.
