LIV Golf Jeddah best bets: Sergio Garcia is due

LIV Golf returns this weekend for its third tournament of the 2024 season, this time at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in Jeddah. Brooks Koepka is the two-time reigning champion of this event, but he isn't even close to the biggest storyline in the field.

Anthony Kim, who last played on the PGA Tour in 2012 before mysteriously vanishing from professional golf, will return to the spotlight this week as a Wild Card player. We can't wait to how 38-year-old Kim fares in his return, but we're not touching him with our outright bets for obvious reasons.

Instead, here are the two players we are targeting at LIV Golf Jeddah.

Sergio Garcia (+2500 FanDuel)

It's a bit surprising that Sergio Garcia hasn't brought home a win on LIV yet. The Spaniard has five top-four finishes on the tour, including a solo second in Mayakoba earlier this month when he lost in a playoff to Joaquin Niemann (although we weren't complaining).

In two starts at Royal Greens with LIV, Garcia has finished T3 both times. He finished a combined three strokes behind Koepka in those events. Royal Greens is a windy, water-heavy golf course that emphasizes ball striking, and that's where Garcia thrives. Don't take it from us, though. Take it from the man himself.

"I've been fortunate to play fairly well here pretty much every time I've played, so obviously there are some things about the course that I enjoy and I like," Garcia told reporters this week. "I'm usually a fairly good wind player, and it always blows here."

A win is coming soon for Garcia, and this could be the week.

Paul Casey (+4200 FD)

Speaking of good wind players, Paul Casey has always performed well in blustery conditions. The Englishman finished T5 at LIV Golf Jeddah in the tournament debut two years ago, and he's coming off a T5 at LIV Golf Las Vegas in which he struck the ball beautifully from tee to green.

Through two events this season, Casey ranks second in greens in regulation percentage and sixth in fairways hit. Ball striking and staying out of trouble are paramount at this golf course, so this should be a good opportunity for Casey to contend.
