'It’s all fluff,' Collin Morikawa vents FRUSTRATIONS on PGA Tour’s communication regarding ongoing merger with LIV Golf
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Collin Morikawa, a renowned golfer seems to be angry at the PGA Tour’s communication process. One of the biggest talking points in the golfing community currently is the ongoing merger of the PGA Tour with LIV Golf. The merger announced in June 2023 has seen the two tours working together to establish a uniform entity. However, the progress on these talks has been slow leading to the deadline to achieve it being extended.

Morikawa, like many other golfers, was not happy with the way they found out about this. Since the initial announcement, the PGA Tour has sent several memos while providing updates on the work. He has now slammed the tour while venting his frustrations and claimed all their talks are just plain “fluff‘.

The two-time major champion is currently in Hawaii for The Sentry. As he continues to battle on in the first event of the new season, he addressed the ongoing merger talks and claimed he was fed up with the emails from the PGA Tour. In his statement, he claimed the emails said one thing and the players said something else.

I hope everything comes together and we’re able to all play together at some point in some time in some way, but there’s so much back and forth, the emails we get, it’s all fluff. There’s no point in reading these emails anymore that we get. Players are saying one thing and then they say something else some other time. Collin Morikawa’s performance at The Sentry

The start of the new season at The Sentry has seen several marquee names battle hard to get their hands on the first title of the year. Collin Morikawa is right in the mix after the first two rounds as he hopes to finally conquer this competition.

In his previous attempts, Morikawa has always been in the top-10 and finished in second spot last season. He now wants to do one better and walk away as the winner. His opening round was electric as he shot a bogey-free 8-under 65 on Thursday.

During the second round on Friday, he once again played a bogey-free round. However, he slipped from a tie for second to tie for fifth with a score of 6-under 67. This performance has seen the 26-year-old going into round three tied with An Byeong Hun, Chris Kirk , and Viktor Hovland.

The top of the leaderboard is very jammed though. Three players Tyrell Hatton, Sung-jae IM, and Brendon Todd are tied for the second spot, just one behind leader Scottie Scheffler.

The World No.1 is proving why he indeed is at the top of the world rankings. Scheffler fired a score of 9-under 64 including eight birdies to take the solo lead at the halfway stage. Morikawa will have to work hard if he were to take the top spot from his fellow countrymen and emerge victorious at the Sentry.
