Golf best bets: Picks for the Sanderson Farms Championship

The PGA Tour continues its fall swing this week with the Sanderson Farms Championship from the Country Club of Jackson. With only nine players in the field ranked better than 70th in the Official World Golf Ranking, there isn't much to be excited about this weekend, but we can easily spice up the quiet tournament with a few winning bets.

Here are my three favorite prop bets for the Sanderson Farms Championship.

Eric Cole top-10 finish (+210 FanDuel)

It's not often you'll find Eric Cole lower than 20/1 to win a golf tournament, but that tells you how weak the Sanderson Farms field is this weekend. Cole is one of the hottest players in the field, as he's made 11 straight cuts and finished fourth at the Fortinet Championship in his last start.

The 35-year-old has gained strokes with his irons in nine straight starts, and he's playing exponentially better now than he was when he missed the cut here last year. I'm targeting Cole with an outright bet this week, but I also love him to finish inside the top 10 at +210 odds.

Winner in the final grouping: No (+175 DraftKings)

This is one of the weakest fields you'll see on the PGA Tour all season. None of the top three names on the odds board have a single PGA Tour victory on their respective resumes, and most of the players in this field with professional victories are either past their prime or in terrible form.

That lack of winning pedigree opens the door for a wild Sunday afternoon. There's a good chance the final grouping will feature players who have never closed out a PGA Tour win in their career, so I'd trust someone coming from off the pace more than a player dealing with the most pressure they've ever faced on the golf course.

Ludvig Aberg to miss the cut (+370 FD)

Ludvig Aberg enters the Sanderson Farms Championship as the clear favorite to win at +1100. The talented Swede is by far the most complete player in the field, but how locked in will he really be this week?

ååAberg is coming off an impressive 2-2-0 performance in the Ryder Cup, and you just know he took a few days to celebrate Team Europe's decisive victory. Now he has to go from drinking out of the Ryder Cup in Rome to teeing it up in a bottom-tier PGA Tour event in humid Jackson, Miss. a few days later. There's a decent chance Aberg punts on the week and misses the cut.
