Golf best bets: Picks for the RSM Classic

The PGA Tour rolls on to Georgia this week for the RSM Classic from Sea Island Golf Club, and we've got you covered with a three-pack of prop bets to sweat out while you watch the action.

J.T. Poston top-20 finish (+140 FanDuel)

The postman is here, and this one delivers on Sundays.

J.T. Poston is playing better golf than maybe anyone on the PGA Tour right now. The American has five top-seven finishes in his last eight starts, and he finished T3 in his most recent start at the Shriners Children's Open last month.

Poston isn't known as an elite iron player, but he sure looks like one right now. He's gained strokes on approach in seven straight starts, including 11.9 true strokes gained over his last two. Oh, and his putter has been on fire for five straight months, too.

The only weak spot in Poston's game right now is his driving, but his lack of distance won't matter much on a short golf course this week.

Eric Cole > Brian Harman (+105 DraftKings)

This is strictly a play against Brian Harman, who hasn't teed it up on the PGA Tour since the Tour Championship in August. It's safe to assume he's been enjoying his much-deserved time off after his Open Championship victory and his first Ryder Cup appearance.

Thankfully, he's matched up against a scorching hot player in Eric Cole. Cole has three top-five finishes in his last four starts and hasn't missed a cut since May. He's also been on fire with his irons, gaining strokes on approach in 12 straight starts. We'll take the hot player at plus money over a guy who hasn't played much competitive golf over the last few months.

Mackenzie Hughes top Canadian (+450 DK)

This is a decent dart throw at a great price. There are only five Canadian golfers in the field this week, and Mackenzie Hughes is the fourth option despite having a win and a solo second at Sea Island Golf Club in his career.

Corey Conners has played this golf course well, but he hasn't played on the PGA Tour since the Tour Championship. Adam Svensson won the RSM Classic last year, but he missed the cut here twice in a row before then. Taylor Pendrith is playing well but doesn't have the same course history Hughes does, and Michael Gligic isn't a serious contender in this market.
