Brendon Todd 'comfortable' with plans for PGA Tour return amid pandemic

The PGA Tour hasn't publicly announced plans for how players will be tested for the coronavirus before, during, and after events, but one player is confident he and others can remain safe whenever they return to courses.

On Tuesday, Brendon Todd, who notched a pair of victories earlier in a season that came to a halt in March because of the virus outbreak, told ESPN's Bob Harig that he is "comfortable" with planned testing protocols.

"It sounds like each person will be tested, even the walking scorers, the officials, to make sure we are COVID[-19]-free and healthy. I feel good with that process. I'm really excited to get back to playing.''

As Harig wrote, players expect to self-test for the virus at their homes before arriving to a course, undergo on-site testing ahead of a tournament, and then be tested again that week. Those who test positive must self-quarantine.

Last month, the PGA announced the Tour intends to resume play on June 11 with the Charles Schwab Challenge held in Fort Worth, Texas. At least the first four events of the resumed season will occur without fans in attendance.

In April, Brooks Koepka said he believes golf without fans will be "awful."

While speaking with Cleveland radio station 92.3 The Fan on Tuesday, baseball insider Keith Law said he believes spectators won't be welcomed to MLB ballparks at any point this year:

Unlike with team sports, golfers can, theoretically, practice social distancing and touch only their equipment during tournaments. It's not known if clubhouses or locker rooms will be open to players in 2020.
