3x major champion Padraig Harrington advises for rivalries between PGA Tour and LIV Golf players until merger goes through

As the PGA Tour and LIV Golf’ backed Public Investment Fund (PIF) continue to engage in the golf merger talks, there are many eagerly waiting for it to go through. How long will that take is currently unknown. In regards to this, three-time major champion Padraig Harrington has dropped a unique suggestion.

The Irish golfer is suggesting the players from both the tours to develop some rivalries. Citing his own experience from playing on both the PGA and European Tour, Harrington advises that this two tours have what it takes to form a rivalry.

This past week was the fourth time where both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf intersected each other. While Scottie Scheffler claimed the top prize at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a few hours earlier, Mexican golfer Abraham Ancer claimed his first victory on the Saudi-backed tour which once again created a rift.

Harrington would point out that there is no sight of the merger going through any time soon while speaking before the Cologuard Classic on the PGA Champions Tour and thus asked why not have some competitive rivalry between the two circuits.

It doesn’t look like there will be any sort of golfing marriage in the near future. Why not have it a little bit like the old European Tour-PGA Tour, where there’s a little bit of competition. Certainly it’s good for the fans when there’s rivalries.

There is no love lost between the two tours players. Recently, LIV Golf’s Talor Gooch took a huge dig at Rory McIlroy and expressed how the North Irishman’s potential Masters win this year should have an asterisk against his name as he and several players will not be in the playing field.

Apart from this, McIlroy’s own comments of allowing the LIV Golf players to come back without any penalty has been criticized. His own PGA Tour peers have not supported this and want the 54-hole circuit to be punished on their return, signaling animosity against each other.

Padraig Harrington claims his training videos can help players improve their game

While Padraig Harrington continues to play golf at the senior tour, he also makes tutorial videos and uploads them on his YouTube channel. He has now claimed that his training videos can help players improve their overall game and decrease their handicap to a single digit number.

A handicap in golf is used to measure the ability of the player. In simple terms, the lower the handicap, the better is the player. As per reports from Golf Magic, only one percent of all golfers around the world have an official handicap score of 10 or lower. Harrington though believes his videos can help out some scratch golfers.

Speaking regarding his tutorials, the 52-year-old veteran said it is not too hard to bring down the handicap score to 9.

It’s hard to be a plus-figure, scratch golfer, but to get to 9 [handicap], it’s not that hard. When I say it’s not that hard, there are some simple things you can do to get there and that’s what my videos are mainly focused on.

So far, Harrington has uploaded around 67 videos and has a total of 128k subscribers. This hints out that maybe the tips he is sharing are working out. However, one will not find out about it unless they try it out themselves.
