Formula 1 has started gaining a lot of traction in the movie industries outside the sport. Hollywood celebrities and artists are increasingly taking interest in the high-adrenaline sport. However, this has been going on for a long time as back in 2018, American pop star Christina Aguilera visited the Azerbaijani GP and got roasted by David Coulthard.

After the inception of the infamous Drive to Survive series on Netflix, Formula 1 races have received positive attendance from famous pop stars and celebrities from across the globe. At the 2018 Azerbaijan GP, the four-time Grammy-winning singer Christina Aguilera, who is also a great friend of Lewis Hamilton was recording the race from her phone.

During this time, cameras displayed Aguilera recording the race from her phone as she stood at the flag-waving spot. Hence, the commentators took quick notice of her. David Coulthard did not miss an opportunity to pass a sly comment about her appearance on the circuit. Coulthard commented that Christina Aguilera was faking interest in the sport by recording from her phone.

And there’s Christina Aguilera, fakes an interest in Formula 1, Coulthard told during commentary (H&T: @OutOfContextF1/youtube.com).

Coulthard’s fellow commentators laughed at this comment at the time. However, the British driver did not receive any backlash or formal warnings from the FIA over the humorous comment about the famous pop star. Since then, commentators have often laughed at many other appearances in Formula 1, including when they commented on Tim Cook, the Apple CEO, during the 2022 US GP.

Ted Kravitz mocked Tim Cook over waving the chequered flag at the 2022 US GP

Ted Kravitz followed David Coulthard’s comments on Aguilera with his comments on the Apple CEO. During the US GP in 2022, Tim Cook was provided with an opportunity to wave the chequered flag and mark the culmination of the race. However, the waving flag wasn’t in the best interest of the commentators as they poked fun at this as well.

Kravitz seized an opportunity much like Coulthard, to mock the Apple CEO, commenting that the chequered flag was possibly the worst chequered flag waving in the history of F1. Additionally, Kravitz also pointed towards the wealth of Cook and added that the money did not give him a strong wrist and nice waving action for the chequered flag.

Possibly the worst chequered flag waving in Formula 1 history by the Apple boss Tim Cook. Well, all the wealth in the world, — can’t give you a strong wrist and a nice action. Ted Kravitz said as reported by Essentially Sports

Hence, commentators spark up the races even more by making these comments. All they need to take care of was that they do not condone racist comments during races and maintain a certain limit and professionalism when making these comments. Apart from that, these moments live long in the meme community and provide the fans an opportunity to laugh over in the future.
