Roy Keane branded “a bit of a bully” as music legend Rod Stewart opens fire

Rod Stewart has branded Sky Sports pundit and Manchester United legend Roy Keane a “bully” for his on-air comments.

Keane has always been renowned as one of football’s harshest TV critics, but things have escalated over the past month or so.

His assessment of Manchester United and England centre-back Harry Maguire felt personal, with Keane being criticised by some of his counterparts in wake of his comments live on ITV over the international break.

Keane is now under-fire once again, but not from a former pro or journalist, rather music legend Rod Stewart. Appearing on talkSPORT, Stewart branded the Irishman a “bully”:

“I think Roy can be a bit of a bully sometimes.”

“I admired him as a player but he’s a bit of a bully. I think there’s a way of speaking your mind, and I think he’s far too aggressive.”

“He was an elite player but do you think he could be a good manager with that approach?”

“I think Roy Keane can be a bit of a bully sometimes. He’s a bit of a bully.”

Though his no-punch-pulled punditry is Keane’s brand, he ought to reconsider his approach amid widespread criticism. He will swiftly find himself ushered out the Sky Sports exit door if it continues.

Those pulling the strings have become increasingly concerned with PR in recent years, which has led to personnel changes in the Sky Sports News lineup. Keane would be naive to consider himself out of the firing line.
