Richard Sherman Reveals Who He Thinks Should Be MVP Between Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

While the San Francisco 49ers are simply just looking to make a push for the Super Bowl there has been some "controversy" surrounding their quarterback and running back tandem.

It isn't that the two stars have had a squabble or a debt to settle, but instead, they have simply been playing so well that they are both in the MVP conversation. The football world seems to be quite split on who should win the award, and to the surprise of many Stanford fans, former Stanford and NFL star Richard Sherman is giving the nod to Purdy.

In a post on the app formerly known as Twitter, Sherman revealed that he thinks Purdy is clearly the MVP.

"I tried to explain that Brock Purdy is the MVP. 4 more TDS today and another win. IDK maybe I’m just crazy… maybe the on the field performance doesn’t matter anymore," said Sherman.

When one fan proposed the notion that Purdy is playing so well due to players like McCaffrey and others around him, Sherman shut down that thought in a hurry.

"Lazy take. Didn’t hear this when Kurt Warner had all his weapons. Didn’t hear it when Montana had all the weapons and Bill Walsh. Don’t want to hear it now. Saying hey he can’t win it because his team is too good. May be the most ridiculous take I hear," wrote Sherman.

The 49ers ended up winning their Sunday matchup against the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 45-29 and were led by both Purdy who threw for four touchdowns and 292 yards, and McCaffrey who accounted for three touchdowns and 187 yards. San Francisco is now 11-3 on the year, and will take on the Baltimore Ravens (11-3) on Christmas Day.
