Raiders Draft Prospect: DE Darius Robinson, Missouri
Joe Puetz-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders are preparing for the NFL Draft. It is at the end of April, but they have lots of preparation to do.

The Raiders must comb through countless prospects to find which players best fit their culture and will put them in the best position to win games.

Now that Coach Antonio Pierce has the permanent job, and General Manager Tom Telesco is in charge, the new Silver and Black regime will work together to bring championships to Las Vegas.

One player who could help them do that is Missouri defensive end Darius Robinson. Robinson, one of the best players on a loaded Tigers’ defense, has entered the NFL Draft.

Robinson finished his collegiate career with 112 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and 13 sacks. He came on strong as a fifth-year senior and had the best season of his career. Robinson was named First-Team All-SEC in 2023.

Robinson is a massive presence off the edge. He stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 290 pounds. Players of Robinson’s size cannot often move the way he does.

Robinson has a long, muscular frame with long arms. He played as a 3-4 defensive end in Defensive Coordinator Blake Baker’s scheme. He lined up everywhere on the defensive line, sometimes even over the center.

He can be a mismatch for this reason. With his relentless energy and strong hands, Robinson proved to be too quick and strong for interior offensive linemen. He can prove to be too overpowering for offensive tackles at times. He will have to prove he can do that at the next level.

According to Pro Football Focus, Robinson generated 72 pressures throughout his career, 42 in his senior season. Robinson projects to be a powerful defensive end, regardless of what scheme he plays in.

While he should be a good pass rusher at the next level, Robinson must prove he can be a consistent tackler in the NFL. He tends to get overly aggressive and miss too many tackles. He is big and strong, but he is not technically refined. He will need to develop pass-rush moves to survive in the NFL.

Robinson is projected to be a day two selection but could find himself higher after rising draft boards in recent weeks. If the Raiders are looking for a powerful presence off the edge, Robinson could be a perfect fit in the mid-rounds.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
