Patrick Mahomes has a ‘crazy’ reaction to Zion Williamson’s unfortunate injury during play-in game against the Lakers
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes follows a lot of other sports. Basketball being one such sport, he has often been in discussions related to the game and its players. Now with the NBA play-in games going on, it seems Mahomes was following the game live. That was confirmed when he reacted to Zion Williamson ‘s injury against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Zion Williamson was playing lights out in the first postseason game of his career. With 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter, his floater leveled the score. However, he was seen grimacing in pain and was forced to leave the game. As news filtered through that the New Orleans Pelicans superstar had injured his leg, Mahomes put out a tweet to react to this development.

Man hate to see that for Zion. He was going crazy! Patrick Mahomes on X

Mahomes was right about Williamson going crazy, as the former No. 1 overall pick was leading all players with 40 points. The Pelicans were rallying at that point in the game. Patrick Mahomes knew right then that had the 6′ 6″ forward stayed in the game, the momentum could have turned the game in the Pelicans’ favor. Subsequently, the Los Angeles Lakers seized the opportunity to take over the game.

The men in purple and gold eventually ran out winners, denying basketball fans such as the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, to enjoy a brilliant battle. Now the Pelicans will have to win the do-or-die play-in final to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Patrick Mahomes and his love for basketball

The NBA sees a lot of superstar athletes come to their games to enjoy a great battle. Patrick Mahomes is one of them, who was recently seen courtside for a game. He often watches games from his home and appreciates a great performance when he sees one.

Such is his affinity towards the sport that he once compared himself to NBA superstar Stephen Curry during the Super Bowl pregame interview. Even his All-Pro teammate Travis Kelce attended a hometown Cleveland Cavaliers game alongside his brother Jason Kelce.

With the NFL off-season yet to start, it seems the 3-time Super Bowl MVP will continue to watch the upcoming NBA playoffs. After all, who better than himself to keep an eye on battles between greats in sports?
